Enjoy the sounds of gentle breezes blowing in the palm trees outside your window, and the surf rolling up on the beach. You'll love the natural beauty of the still-unspoiled area of North Florida. You can walk along a peaceful, uncrowded beach and just relax, or pick one of the many activities nearby: parasailing, deep- sea fishing, windsurfing, boating, cycling, bird-watching, hiking or golf. Historic St. Augustine is only two miles away, Jacksonville 45 minutes away, and Orlando is a two-hour drive. This quaint, historic cottage was part of a group of houses built in the 1930's in this area of Vilano Beach. Originally a fishing village, the area was constructed by an aviator named Reiss, a colleague of Charles Lindbergh and founder of the St. Augustine airport. Used by military families during WWII (a German spy occupied one of these cottages), it later became a motel called the Pagoda. Our cottage has a bedroom with a queen size bed and a slider door that goes onto the back deck. The kitchen has a refrigerator, microwave, oven and sink and plenty of cabinet space. The bathroom and kitchen were recently renovated with all new plumbing, appliances, tile and fixtures. The living room has a fold out futon couch, also queen size, and the original southern heart pine paneling. It is cozy (about 500 square feet), but there is an additional 120 square feet of deck. It is private and safe, with a fence around the perimeter and a gated driveway. There is plenty of space for parking. The cottage is just 100 yards from the beach. A minute walk down the road will lead to the path through stunning dunes. Vilano is a quiet and lovely beach, where you may spot dolphins playing, watch a beautiful sunrise, or walk for miles. The ocean has different offerings every day - you may find a conch shell, a starfish, or pieces of fossilized tortoise shell. St. Augustine, the oldest European settlement in the country, has much to offer. The historic section has retained its original colonial style. The main part of the town is just a drive over the bridge which crosses the intracoastal waterway. This area has wildlife sanctuaries nearby, including Guana River State Park. St. Augustine has fine restaurants, antique stores, museums, horse-drawn carriage rides, bus/trolley tours, sailboat tours, a wonderful lighthouse on nearby Anastasia Island, and many other attractions. You can surf or parasail right off of Vilano Beach. Or just enjoy the day reading a great book and lounging on the hammock.Property Amenities 100 Yards from Beach, Recently Renovated, Fully Equipped, Deck, Private, Cable, Television in living room and bedroom, gas wood stove.Activities and Attractions Historic St. Augustine, Deep-Sea Fishing, Boating, Parasailing, Golfing, Surfing, AntiquesProperty Rates Dec-Aug $595 per wk. $75 cleaning fee. $53.55 FL tax Total 723.55 Sept-Nov $535 per wk. $75 cleaning fee. $43.65 FL tax Total 658.15
