Beach Golf Course surrounding the Ritz Carlton, and less that 1 mile 
from the Royal Amelia Links.  Overall there are 117 holes of Golf 
directly on Amelia Island.

Dining -  From locally prepared seafood at many fine local 
establishments, to the Award Winning Grill Room in the Ritz Carlton 
located just 500 yards to the south, dining on Amelia Island will be 
unforgettable.

days weather permitting; Inland Waterway fishing excellent year-

Hiking - Amelia Island is literally surrounded by state and national 
parks.  Little Talbot Island, Big Talbot Island, Fort Clinch, and 
Guana River State Park systems - along with the Cumberland Island

Biking -  Ride along the beach on a beach cruiser, or brave the 
world class Off-Road Bike Trail at Ft. Clinch, considered a 
significant technical challange and workout by local bikers.  Not to 
mention 50 miles of A1A along the beach and through the woods 
between Ft. Clinch to the North and the Mayport Ferry to the South. 

Shopping -  Historic and quaint Fernandina Beach is 4 
minutes away, and packed with little specialty stores.  The Spa and 
Shops at the famous Amelia Island Plantation resort is 3 minutes 
south and open to the public!  Not to mention that the metropolitan 
Jacksonville area is a 35 minutes drive down scenic A1A, right along 
the Ocean.

Spa - Built only 1 1/2 years ago, the World Class Spa at Amelia 
Island Plantation is "Open to the Public" and waiting to transport 
you to a world of relaxation and spa services so special you'll 
probably go twice.

Tennis - Each April, The Amelia Island Plantation is host to the 
Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Bausch & Lomb Tennis Tournament for 
an entire week under the beautiful Oaks on Center Court.  Tickets 
are available through the Ticket Office.  Locally, a number of 
tennis courts exist should you want to challange your partner to a 
game.  

Pilot?  The Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport, originally a WWII 
military training facility, sports 5 runways over a mile long.

Sports Fan?  During Football season watch the Jacksonville Jaguars 
meet opponents in the NFL's largest stadium - Alltel Stadum - brand 
new and located 38 minutes away.  This is also home to the annual 
Georgia-Florida rivalry.  And a sincere congratulations to both New 
England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles during our first Superbowl 
on Feb 6, 2005.  

Like the Theatre?  Located just 40 minutes away in Jacksonville, 
several fine theatres present extraordinary shows for your 
entertainment.  The Alhambra Dinner Theatre presents dinner and fine 
Broadway shows.  The Florida Theatre hosts the Symphony, Pops and 
many fine traveling Jazz, Dance and other entertainers each season.  
Each year the FCCJ Artist Series featuring Broadway shows has a 
number of fine shows at the Time-Union Center for the Performing 
Arts.

Museums - The Cummer Museum, Brest Planetarium, Zoological Gardens, 
Museum of Modern Art, Aviation Museum, Maritime Museum Society, 
Museum of Southern History and Kingsley Plantation are just some of 
the major attractions that make wonderful regional day trips. 

Go to the Zoo!  Just 30 minutes south is the beautiful Jacksonville 
Zoo, positioned along the St. John's river.  Our zoo is quite nice 
and can take a full day to see everything properly.

Visit the Millionaires Village on Jeckyl Island (about an hour away) 
for a view of how the rich and famous vacationed during the 
Industrial Revolution.  Family 'cottages' with names like Morgan and 
Carnegie await you during this short 1/2 day trip.

Feeling real adventurous?  Go for a canoe ride in the Okeefenokee 
Swamp, located about an hour away.  Or go open water Scuba Diving in 
the Atlantic Ocean, where several wrecks and artificial reefs lie 70-
110 feet down 10 to 20 miles off shore, and spear fishing is the 
prefered sport of some mighty brave folks (not me).  Or sky diving 
at the local airport, or in Lake City located about 1 hour away.

*** Important Notice ***  
Please be aware that unfortunately it is ILLEGAL to rent a single 
family home inside the Fernandina Beach City Limits for less than 28 
days at a time.  This includes almost every home along the beach road
from the City Golf Course (south end) all the way to Fort 
Clinch (north end).  The City of Fernandina Beach passed a strict 
law prohibiting the short term rental of single family homes, 
because of the highnumber of complaints about homeowners allowing 
too many people into their homes at one time (12 people in 3 bedroom 
homes, for example), and due to parking constraints along the beach 
road.  You must stay in a high rise condominium, hotel or other 
approved location if you wish to visit Fernandina Beach for less 
than 1 full month at a time or longer.  If you rent a home that is 
not entitled by zoning and special permits to allow weekly rentals, 
the neighbors will complain and the City will send Law Officers to 
the residence and disrupt your vacation. Buyer beware in Fernandina 
Beach!  Make sure you verify the legality of renting the home you 
are interested in utilizing!  Ask the question "Are you permitted to 
rent the home for less than a month?".
