about the caves, while Civil War refugees hid in the dark crevices to avoid Union soldiers.

Discover the many attractions of historic Marianna where the Civil War Battle of Marianna was fought 
on Main Street, tour the beautiful Russ House, and enjoy various fine restaurants and seasonal 
cultural events. The world-renowned Blue Springs and Merritt’s Millpond are just outside the city 
limits to the east. The Blue Springs produce more than 64.6 million gallons of water each day and 
the mill pond is honeycombed with underwater limestone caves which attract scuba cave divers from 
around the globe. Families love boating, swimming and picnicking at the park as well. 

Located just one hour south of Marianna is historic Panama City and Panama City Beach with its white 
sand beaches on the clear, warm, green waters of the Gulf–rightly called “the Emerald Coast.” Head 
east from Marianna and within 30 minutes is the 37,000 acre Lake Seminole, world known for its bass 
fishing tournaments. Another 30 minutes and you are in historic Tallahassee with its many cultural 
and sporting attractions. Head north out of Marianna and within one hour you can experience the 
southern charm of Dothan, Alabama or Bainbridge, Georgia, with their rich history and beautiful old
