Beautiful St. George Island is a natural playground located about 60 
miles southeast of Panama City, 70 miles southwest of Tallahassee, 
and is part of the outer banks of Apalachicola Bay.  The beaches are 
rarely crowded.  There are many activities including swimming, 
boating, biking, water sports, world class fishing, bird and 
wildlife viewing.  There are bicycle paths running throughout the 
island that offer a safe place for bicycling, skating, running or 
just walking. Rentals available for kayaks, boats, sailboats, 
bicycles, umbrellas and beach chairs on the island. Guided boat 
tours of surrounding river and bay areas, as well as Little St. 
George and its lighthouse.  Award winning St. George Island State 
Park takes up the entire eastern end of the island and offers 
hiking, kayaking and sunbathing in a pristine undisturbed beach 
setting. The Island and nearby Apalachicola offer old town charm, 
excellent restaurants serving world famous Apalachicola Oysters and 
fresh seafood, and plenty of specialty shops to explore.
