Cape Canaveral Vacation Rentals, Homes, Condos, Villas and Beach Rentals

Cape Canaveral is probably most well known as being the home of the John F. Kennedy Space Center. Located halfway between Miami and Jacksonville along the Atlantic seacoast, the city is bounded on the north by Port Canaveral, on the east by the Atlantic Ocean, on the south by Cocoa Beach and on the west by the Banana River. The area abounds with things to see and do, starting with a tour of the Kennedy Space Center and Astronaut Hall of Fame. There’s a lot to see and do in the actual Cape Kennedy visitor complex, but to see the actual space center, you must take one of the shuttle buses that depart every 10 minutes. To the north of the Kennedy Space Center is the Canaveral National Seashore, which is a protected 13-mile stretch of barrier island beach that is great for birdwatching and viewing sea turtles. Just south of Cape Canaveral is Cocoa Beach, with six miles of soft white sand and surf for swimming, sunbathing, walking or jogging. This is one of the most unique beaches in the country, where you can go for a swim and watch a space launch at the same time. Other things to do in the Cape Canaveral area include golf, fishing, boating, or kayaking off the Banana River islands. For more excitement, visit Port Canaveral, the busiest cruise port in the world, and home to the largest Las Vegas style gaming cruise ship in the world.

Cape Canaveral Weather & Climate

The "Space Coast"  of Florida, which lies on the Central East Coast near the Kennedy Space Center, has a semi-tropical climate that becomes quite warm and humid during the months of June, July and August. Frequent showers and thunderstorms are generally local and short in duration. Large tropical storms can bring high winds and inundating rainfalls, but due to excellent weather forecasting, warning time can be up to a week. The coastal areas also offer daily breezes of adequate velocity that helps moderate temperatures. September and October remain warm, with September usually being the wettest month. November to February is relatively dry and sunny with pleasant daytime temperatures and cool nights. In the months of March to May the sun begins to climb higher in the sky again with warmer days and moderate rainfall.
