Casey Key
is a barrier island located on the west coast of Florida, approximately 15 miles south of Sarasota. It is eight miles in length, with Siesta Key to the north and the Island of Venice at the southern tip of the island. The population on Casey Key is less than 400, with a combination of full-time, seasonal and vacationing families. There are no large chain hotels located on the island that consists almost entirely of single-family homes. Casey Key is “old Florida,” with the only commercialism being a few quaint inns and older beach motels situated a short distance from the public beach and marina. Most of the island is a state conservation district and zoning restrictions guarantee that Casey Key will remain the way it is today. Two bridges provide access to the key from the mainland, including an old “swing bridge” that dates to the 1920s. The slow pace and light traffic makes Casey Key a perfect place for bicycling and walking. It is also known as one of the best surfing beaches in the area. Other activities on Casey Key include excellent fishing, boating, beach volleyball, picnicking, sunning and swimming. Fine restaurants, shopping, golf and tennis are just a short drive away on the mainland.

Casey Key Weather & Climate
South Central Florida, along the Gulf Coast near the south end of Tampa Bay, enjoys warm weather with lots of sunshine year round. During the months of June through September, it is hot and humidity hovers around 50 percent or higher. Although this sounds high, Gulf breezes help to moderate temperatures and virtually every structure in Florida is equipped with air conditioning. The rainy season is from late May through October. You can expect almost daily thunderstorms during this time, but they dissipate quickly and within minutes the sun is shining again. Winters are much drier in comparison with lovely warm daytime temperatures and cool nights. The hurricane season in Florida runs from late August through November, but generally plenty of warning time is given for these types of tropical storms.
