is located near the Alabama state line in the Northwest Panhandle of Florida. This beautiful city is near three scenic rivers, several lakes, and acres of unspoiled forest, making it a paradise for outdoor lovers. The following is just a sample of what you have to look forward to when you visit the Crestview area. Located northwest of Crestview is the Blackwater River State Forest. This is the largest state forest in Florida, with over 183,000 acres, including magnolia and dogwood trees. Visitors can enjoy fishing, boating, swimming, camping, hiking and horseback riding. The Blackwater River runs through the forest and is known for its clear, clean sand bottom. Hurricane Lake, in the Blackwater River State Forest, covers 350 acres and is stocked with bass, bluegill, catfish and shellcracker fish. The town of Crestview is a safe, friendly community with a wonderful climate and wholesome country living. It is also home to several festivals throughout the year. The Spanish Trail Festival is usually held every year on the last weekend of April and the first weekend of May and celebrates the area’s rich heritage. The Carver Hill May Day Festival is a family-oriented festival and parade, as is the annual Fourth of July Celebration that includes fireworks, music, games and activities for children.

Northwest Florida , near the Alabama State line is only 35 minutes from the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico; therefore the climate is greatly affected by the Gulf. Tropical winds from the south, southeast and southwest create hot, humid conditions in this region and this produces lots of showers and thunderstorms in the summertime. It rains nearly every day during the wet summer season, however you can also expect some sunshine on most days. Late fall and winter is a lovely time of year in the northwest Panhandle region. Expect mild daytime temperatures and less humidity, along with cool nights. It rains much less in winter, and storms are generally localized and short, and the sun reappears quickly.
