Gulf Breeze
is a small town located just south of Pensacola near the Gulf of Mexico and the Alabama State line. With over 300 days of sunshine per year and its proximity to the Gulf, the town of Gulf Breeze is an outdoor lover’s dream. Miles of unspoiled beach provide endless opportunities for outdoor fun. Just some of the activities you can enjoy in Gulf Breeze include swimming, snorkeling, diving, fishing, boating, surfing and beachcombing. All types of watercraft are available, along with deep sea fishing charters, and local rental shops that offer lessons for sailing, surfing and kayaking. Some of the nearby recreational sites include the Gulf Islands National Seashore and the town of Milton, known as the “Canoeing Capital of Florida.” The Blackwater, Sweetwater and Coldwater Rivers are all in the region and the town of Gulf Breeze has the distinction of having more of its land devoted to parks than any other city of its size. Gulf Breeze is also home to many artists, musicians and other performers who participate in many of the fine arts festivals in the area throughout the year. Gulf Breeze is a friendly, easygoing town, with an unspoiled atmosphere, yet it has easy access to all the modern amenities, making it a perfect choice for a Florida Gulf Coast vacation.
Northwest Florida just east of the Alabama State line near the Gulf Islands National Seashore, has a semi-tropical climate with hot, humid summers and warm winters. More than 50 inches of rain is received in this region per year, with most of it in the months between May and September. This, along with the Gulf of Mexico, creates high humidity during this time. Thunderstorms are almost a daily occurrence in the summertime, but they generally do not last long and the sunshine returns. Winter, by comparison, is delightfully much cooler and drier, with perfect conditions for outdoor activities. The hurricane season runs August through October, but direct hits are rare and excellent forecasting gives plenty of warning time for these types of storms.
