Hobe Sound
is a small community located along Florida’s south Atlantic “Treasure Coast.” This area at the top of Palm Beach County and including Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River Counties is one of Florida’s most quiet. It’s dotted with small, friendly towns and unspoiled, pristine beaches. The beaches along the Treasure Coast are sought out by nesting sea turtles, and you can join local tour groups to watch the creatures laying their eggs in the sand (April through August.) However, it’s illegal to touch or disturb the turtles or their nests. Hobe Sound offers beach activities such as swimming, scuba diving, sunbathing and beachcombing. There is also hiking, biking, nearby golf and flea markets, all while enjoying some of the most beautiful weather in the country. The town of Vero Beach with its upscale shops and fine dining is just a short drive from Hobe Sound. You are also only an hour to the major airports, and if you tire of the peace and quiet, the excitement and sophistication of Palm Beach is just a short drive south.
The "Treasure Coast" of Florida is located in the South Central Atlantic Coast area, near West Palm Beach and Ft. Pierce. It is considered the northern border of Florida's warmest thermal belt. Yearly rainfall in this area is 50-55 inches, with September known to locals as "the rainy month," The months of June, July, August and October follow, and the period of least rainfall is December through April. Summers can be humid, but temperatures rarely exceed 90 degrees. Summer nights are balmy with onshore breezes. Winters are marvelous - warm, sunny and relatively dry with cool evenings.
