Perry Vacation Rentals, Homes, Condos, Villas and Beach Rentals

Perry is located southeast of Tallahassee near the Ecofina River and the Gulf of Mexico. It’s a small, rural community that is the county seat of Taylor County, which is set in a charming, rustic part of the state. The west coast of Taylor County is comprised of pristine, secluded beaches along the Gulf that area perfect for walking, shelling, or just relaxing. Other activities in the Perry region include fishing, boating, snorkeling, horseback riding, hiking, and picnicking. Scallop season runs July through September and is another fun family activity to enjoy. Hagan’s Cove is a favorite vacation spot of former President Jimmy Carter and features nature trails along the sandbars where you will discover many different species of birds, fish and other wildlife. Keaton Beach near Perry has a public beach with a park with picnic areas, swimming, fishing and a boat ramp. Perry is also home to the Forest Capital/Cracker Homestead, a state museum with a very nice 13-acre picnic area. The museum has exhibits that celebrate the importance of the forest industry in the state of Florida, and an1864 farmhouse in back of the museum that is open for tours. Special events in Perry include the Taylor County Bluegrass Festival, usually held in April, and a very pretty Celebration of Lights in downtown Perry in November.

Perry Weather & Climate

The Panhandle Region near Hagen's Cove on the Gulf of Mexico is somewhat cooler, even in summertime, than the rest of the state due to its latitude and the combination of sea breezes and prevailing northeasterly winds. However, the summer months are still hot and humid with lots of showers and thunderstorms. The Panhandle receives the most rain in the state, nearly 60 inches per year. July through September are the wettest months. Winters are mild enough for most outdoor activities with cool nights. Occasionally the mercury dips low enough for a light frost, but that's rare. Hurricane season officially lasts from August through late October, but ample warning is given for these types of storms.
