Safety Harbor is located along the northwestern edge of Tampa Bay in Pinellas County south of Tarpon Springs. It is part of the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater metro area, yet has managed to retain a laid-back, old-town atmosphere typical of the old south. This is a place rich in history where the first inhabitants were the Timucuan Indians. In 1539, the Spanish explorer, Hernando de Soto, who was searching for the Fountain of Youth, discovered the Espiritu Santo Natural Springs, which have gained worldwide attention for their curative powers. Twenty-two acres of pristine waterfront along Tampa Bay house the famous Safety Harbor Resort and Spa, which continues to attract health conscious visitors to the town. Five natural mineral springs are located on the premises. Safety Harbor is primarily a residential community with a historic downtown business district. Nestled along the Bay is a small marina and fishing pier. The town is quite a lovely, peaceful place to spend some time, and is just a short drive to the beaches, water sports and other attractions of the Tampa Bay/St. Petersburg area.

Temperate and mild, the central West Coast of Florida in the Clearwater/St. Petersburg/Tampa Bay area enjoys a semi tropical climate with warm Gulf breezes and plenty of sunshine. Frequent thunderstorms, short in duration, dominate the summertime weather patterns, where humidity usually hovers near the 100 percent mark. Even with these frequent summer storms, however, this area of the state enjoys the most days of sunshine per year - with an average of 361. June through September are the wettest months, with the rest of the year being pretty dry by comparison. The most pleasant weather is found during the winter months between November and March when the humidity becomes more bearable and winds from the Bay and Gulf keep temperatures moderate.
